Panels are listed by size with the price excluding and including VAT at 20%, plus the price per square metre so you can compare sizes and thicknesses fairly. What affects the price of GRP grating?
- Thickness. Thicker panels contain more glass and resin, so the price rises with depth. Choose the thinnest panel that meets your span and load using our GRP grating load and span tables.
- Mesh type. Mini mesh and covered top cost more than open mesh of a similar thickness because the panels contain more material.
- Panel size. The price per square metre is broadly similar across our stock sizes, so choose the size that gives you the fewest cuts and joins. Longer panels may need to travel on a pallet.
- Quantity. Bulk discounts apply automatically on grating panels: 5% on 5 to 9 panels, 10% on 10 to 14 and 15% on 15 or more.
- Cutting. Cutting to size is free in most cases. Complex cuts may carry a charge, which we confirm on your quotation. See GRP grating cut to size.
- Delivery. Delivery is priced by weight and panel length and shown in your basket before you pay.
How much GRP grating do I need?
Measure the area to be covered, divide it by the area of the panel you plan to use and round up, allowing for cuts around supports and penetrations. For example, a walkway 10m long and 1.2m wide is covered by three 3660 x 1220mm panels laid end to end, with the last panel cut to length. Allow one pack of eight M clips for roughly every 3m x 1m panel, and C clips wherever two panels meet. If you would rather we worked it out, send us a sketch through our bespoke quotation form.
Delivery and collection
Mainland UK orders up to about 100kg normally travel by courier on a next working day service, and heavier or longer orders go by pallet network. Pallet deliveries need a forklift on site for items over 2 metres. Orders placed by 12pm are normally dispatched the same working day, although next day delivery is not guaranteed. The Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man are priced at checkout. Is GRP grating cheaper than steel?
Steel grating can cost less to buy, but GRP usually costs less over the life of the floor. It does not rust, never needs painting or re-galvanising, is far lighter to handle and install, and can be cut on site without hot works permits. In wet, chemical or coastal environments the saving on maintenance and replacement soon outweighs the difference in purchase price.
