Need GRP grating to fit an exact opening, trench or platform? We cut panels to your dimensions from our standard stock sizes, and in most cases the cutting is free. Tell us what you need using the form below and we will come back to you with a quotation.

How our cut to size service works

  1. Choose your grating. Pick the mesh and thickness: open mesh in 25mm, 38mm or 50mm, mini mesh in 14mm, 25mm, 30mm or 38mm, or covered top in 28mm or 41mm. Our load and span tables will help you choose, or call us on 01480 570001.
  2. Send us your sizes. Give us the finished size and quantity of each piece and the colour you need. Upload a drawing, sketch or photo if you have one, marking any cut-outs for pipes, posts or drains.
  3. Get your quotation. We work out the most economical way to cut your pieces from our stock panels and send you a price.
  4. We cut and deliver. Your panels are cut and sent out, ready to fix down with M clips and C clips.

Is cutting free?

In most cases, yes. Cutting is priced on the number and size of the cuts and how complex they are, so straightforward cuts from our standard panels are normally free, while intricate shapes and lots of cut-outs may carry a charge. Any charge is shown on your quotation before you commit.

Cutting can lower your delivery cost

Our largest panels often have to travel on a pallet. If your finished pieces are smaller, cutting them before dispatch can reduce the number of pallet spaces needed and bring the carriage cost down.

What to include in your request

  • The grating type, thickness and colour
  • The finished length and width of each piece, and how many of each you need
  • The position and size of any cut-outs or notches
  • Your delivery postcode, and whether there is a forklift on site

Please double check your measurements before you confirm: grating that has been cut to your order cannot be returned unless we supplied it incorrectly or it arrived damaged.

Prefer to cut on site?

GRP grating cuts cleanly with a diamond blade, but it needs proper dust control and every cut edge should be sealed. Our contractor’s guide to cutting GRP grating safely covers the tools, PPE and edge sealing.

    Cut to size questions

Can you cut GRP grating to size?
Yes. We cut open mesh, mini mesh and covered top grating to your dimensions from our standard stock panels. Send us your sizes and we will send you a quotation.
Is there a charge for cutting?
In most cases cutting is free. The price depends on the number and size of cuts and how complex they are, so intricate shapes and lots of cut-outs may carry a charge. Any charge is shown on your quotation before you commit.
Can you cut stair treads, anti-slip sheet and profiles too?
Yes. Stair treads, anti-slip sheet and GRP profiles can also be cut to size or length. Include them in your quotation request.
Can I cut GRP grating myself?
Yes, with a diamond blade, dust extraction, FFP3 respiratory protection and a resin sealer for the cut edges. Our contractor’s guide to cutting GRP grating covers tools, PPE and edge sealing.
Can cut to size grating be returned?
Because cut panels are made to your order, we cannot accept returns of grating that has been cut unless we supplied it incorrectly or it arrived damaged. Please double check your measurements before you confirm your order.
Will cutting reduce my delivery cost?
It can. Our largest panels often travel on a pallet, so cutting them to your finished sizes before dispatch can reduce the number of pallet spaces needed and lower the carriage cost.
