High Quality GRP Grating Products

GRP anti-slip safety products give a permanent, hard-wearing grip surface for walkways, ramps, steps and decking where painted coatings quickly wear away. The grit is bonded into the product itself, so the slip resistance cannot peel, flake or be missed in a maintenance round.

Used across rail, marine, industrial and public environments, our GRP safety range helps reduce slips, trips and falls and supports your HSE duty-of-care obligations. Supplied as stair tread covers, stair nosings and anti-slip flat sheet in a range of sizes and colours, held in UK stock with orders by 12pm normally dispatched the same working day. A cut-to-size service is also available.

GRP anti-slip stair nosings, tread covers and sheet: buying guide

These products bond a hard-wearing grit into a GRP backing, giving a permanent anti-slip surface that you fit over existing steps, floors and walkways. Unlike paint or anti-slip tape, the grip cannot peel away or wear off after a few months, and GRP will not rust or rot outdoors.

Tread cover or stair nosing?

Use a stair tread cover when the whole step is worn, slippery or damaged. It covers the full tread, wraps the front edge with an integrated nosing and fits over virtually any existing surface, including concrete, steel and timber. Use a stair nosing when the tread is sound and you only need to protect and highlight the step edge, including on carpeted stairs. For open steel staircases, see our GRP grating stair treads, which replace the tread altogether.

Building Regulations and visible step edges

Our tread covers have a 55 x 55mm nosing designed to meet current Building Regulations, and contrasting nosing colours help people with impaired vision pick out each step edge, supporting your duties under the Equality Act 2010, which replaced the DDA. Our guide on how to make stairs anti-slip with GRP stair tread covers explains how to choose and fit them.

Anti-slip sheet for walkways, ramps and decking

GRP flat sheet covers walkways, ramps, bridges, decking and access areas indoors or out. Sheets are sold online with a coarse grit finish, which suits external and heavily contaminated areas; for a fine grit, call 01480 570001. Sheets can be cut to size, and on request they can be PU coated to any RAL colour. You can request a free sample of the tread covers, nosings and sheet before you order.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a stair tread cover and a stair nosing?
A tread cover fits over the whole step and has a 55 x 55mm nosing built in, so it renews a worn or slippery step completely. A stair nosing only covers the front edge of the step, which is ideal when the tread itself is sound, including on carpeted stairs.
Can GRP tread covers go over concrete or timber steps?
Yes. Our tread covers are made to fit over virtually any existing surface, including concrete, steel and timber steps, so worn stairs can be made safe without replacing them.
Which grit should I choose?
Choose coarse grit for external stairs and walkways or anywhere that gets wet, muddy or oily. Choose fine grit for internal areas where a smoother finish is more comfortable.
Do your stair tread covers meet Building Regulations?
Our tread covers have a 55 x 55mm nosing designed to meet current Building Regulations, and contrasting nosing colours are available to help people see each step edge. For a specific project, confirm the requirement with your building control body.
Can I get a sample?
Yes. Free samples are available for our stair tread covers, stair nosings and anti-slip sheet. Request a sample.
Can anti-slip sheet be cut to size or made in other colours?
Yes. Sheets can be cut to size, and on request they can be PU coated to any RAL colour. Call 01480 570001 for a quotation.
