GRP mini mesh grating has a 14mm square aperture, making it the right choice wherever heel safety, dropped object retention or compliance with the EU Ball Drop Test matters. Despite the tighter mesh, panels deliver the same load capacity as standard 38x38mm grating, so you do not compromise on strength.
Used on inspection walkways, mezzanines, stair landings and public-facing platforms, mini mesh GRP is also widely specified in food production, aerospace and electrical environments where small objects must not pass through the floor. Available in 25mm, 30mm and 38mm depths, in a range of resin systems and colours, with next-day delivery on UK stock items. Read our guide: what is mini mesh GRP grating and when to use it.

GRP mini mesh grating: specification guide
GRP mini mesh grating is fibreglass grating with a much smaller aperture than standard open mesh, around 14mm across rather than the usual 38mm openings. That small opening stops heels, tool handles, fittings and other small objects passing through the floor, which is what makes mini mesh the specified choice for public walkways and for platforms above people, machinery or water. Like all our GRP grating it is corrosion resistant, non-conductive and finished with an anti-slip grit surface.
| Panel | Key points | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 14mm mini mesh panels | Heel-safe apertures, EU Ball Drop compliant | Public walkways and pedestrian areas |
| 25mm mini mesh panels | 13mm hole size with added depth | Walkways needing more span |
| 30mm mini mesh panels | Small apertures with higher load capacity | Industrial platforms and longer spans |
| 38mm mini mesh panels | Full depth panel, small apertures | Heavy duty floors above sensitive areas |
When to choose mini mesh over standard mesh
Choose mini mesh whenever anything falling through the floor would be a safety or contamination problem: platforms above walkways or machinery, gantries above water, mezzanines over production areas. It is also the right choice wherever the public walk in normal footwear, because the 14mm opening is heel-safe and meets the EU Ball Drop requirement used to assess pedestrian gratings. For general industrial walkways where maximum drainage matters more, standard open mesh grating is usually the more economical panel. Our guide What is mini mesh GRP grating? covers the decision in more detail.
Where mini mesh grating is used
Typical installations include rail and transport walkways, swimming pools and leisure sites, marinas and pontoons, schools and public realm projects, and food and drink production where dropped items must not reach the level below. Because the panels are non-conductive they are also used around electrical plant and trackside equipment.
Cut to size, fixings and delivery
Mini mesh panels can be supplied cut to size or trimmed on site using our cutting guide. Fix down with M mini mesh clips. Standard panels are in UK stock for next-day delivery, and you can request a sample or a bespoke quotation for project quantities.
